
Pound Instructor
Shannon Enders is a certified POUND instructor with over five years experience teaching group fitness. Instead of just listening to music while working out, POUND participants become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out, all while burning 400 – 900+ calories! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.
Aside from her passion for fitness, Shannon is also a trained actor for New York State Homeland Security, where she performs in training scenarios to help train law enforcement and emergency medical technicians for real-life crises. Her true passion is her work as a teaching artist in theatre and creative writing, working as an educator and consultant for local colleges, private and public schools and non-profit organizations.
Her love of the arts, combined with her passion for fitness, lead to a collaboration with professional drummer Kelly Yacco, a musician and percussion teacher with over thirty years experience in the music business. Together, they designed POUND-BEAT BOOSTED, a hybrid POUND fitness class accompanied by live drumming. POUND-BEAT BOOSTED is much like a fitness “concert” where participants get an exhilarating workout boost from the beats of Yacco on his drum kit, djembes and African dun duns. It is an exclusive Studio 55 community fitness class, developed to include all levels of fitness.
